The Slazenger Lawn Tennis Ball Box and Balls 1920
A Slazenger ball box sporting the early startrade mark “Best is Best S & S L Thro’ The World”. Other text to box – Slazenger’ Lawn Tennis Balls, exclusively used at the Championships Wimbledon since 1902 – made entirely in England – Made according to the regulations of the Lawn Tennis Association and officially authorised for use on grass or hard courts. There are three original balls and two later editions. The attached lid has an advertisement in three parts. The central image is the iconic “Slazenger Service”, to the right three rackets are advertised with descriptions – The Queen’s, The Doherty, and The Meteor and to the left The Universal and The Stadium Lawn Tennis Poles are illustrated and described. The term tennis poles were later replaced by tennis posts, harping back to the early days of the game. The lid has its original attachment. Measuring 20 x 14 x7 cms this item is in very good condition. There is an early repair to one short side of the lid.
