This exceptional photogravure by the French fashion photographer Marc Le Noir of British player Bett Nuthall was taken in 1930. See others – Alain Gerbalt and Eileen Bennett. Clearly signed in ink “Yours Sincerely Betty Nuthall” to lower mount.
Betty May Nuthall Shoemaker was an English tennis player. Known for her powerful forehand, according to Wallis Myers of The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail, Nuthall was ranked in the world’s top 10 in 1927, 1929 through 1931, and 1933, reaching a career high of world no. 4 in 1929.
Measuring 39.5 x 29cms this large photogravure is of the highest quality. Condition very good, save tear and loss to bottom edge.
